Furniss of Cornwall Ltd
John Cooper Furniss, was an entrepreneurial third generation master baker based in Truro where he ran the family firm, “Messer's Furniss Biscuit Makers and Co”. This business has been traced back to 1775.
He was a philanthropic industrialist, purchasing homes for his staff, providing employment to veterans, and he set up the ‘Furniss Coal Trust ’ which provided coal to pensioners. The Furniss Trust continues to operate today, providing energy grants to those in need.
Furniss moved from the original site in Truro to Redruth in 1988, after the original 100 year lease expired, and has continued to make biscuits there ever since, staying true to the values and spirit of our Founder.
We are proud of our heritage and our place in the community, and we strive to be good neighbours as part of our journey to a ‘B’ Corp status.
We bake great tasting Biscuits, Cookies and Shortbread's and are delighted to supply our products worldwide. If you would like more information please visit our website www.furniss-foods.co.uk or by emailing us at [email protected].
